“Newtopia” is set in a high-rise building air defense unit in Seoul. The story follows soldier Jae-yoon and his girlfriend Young-ju, who have recently broken up. They attempt to reunite following the emergence of a zombie outbreak that overtakes South Korea.

Starring Jisoo and Park Jeong-min, “Newtopia” has sparked interest, particularly due to Jisoo’s return to acting. Director Yoon Sung-hyun expressed his fondness for the actress, “I felt lucky to have worked with Jisoo. She appears in Episodes 1 and 2, but by the time you reach Episode 8, you’ll see that this character could only be played by her.”

Regarding Jisoo’s acting, he admitted, “Since she hadn’t been active for a long time after ‘Snowdrop’, I was initially concerned. She isn’t an actress who has been consistently acting, so I did have some worries at first.” However, he added, “She gave me four days a week, so those concerns disappeared. By the time filming started, she was fully ready. It was an extremely tough shoot, but she did a great job.”

“Newtopia” is set to premiere on Coupang Play on February 7 at 8 PM KST.
